Fiesta Pink Bow Dress

Lilly Pulitzer Antonia Dress in Fiesta Pink

Do you ever see little kids in the street with legitimately cute outfits on, and think wow, I’d actually wear that?

I’ve expressed that particular statement out loud an embarrassingly large amount of times (apologies if you were the person I was with at the time), and I feel like the adult clothing gods have finally answered my prayers with this particular dress. That bow absolutely kills me. I may also have it in two different colors and patterns …

Farewell to Third Year

I still have a bunch of finals left (I’m literally writing this while taking a break from the two projects, two essays, and one exam I still have to finish/write/study for), but I’m pretty much packed up to go otherwise.

Looking around my empty room makes me excited and melancholy at the same time — on one hand, I’m so ready to get out of here and wolf down my mom’s delicious food again and get a taste of life as a professional software engineer. On the other hand, some of my closest friends are graduating this year, and it just won’t be the same when I return in the fall. Life happens, though, and I’ve found that the best way to deal with change is to accept it, move on, and make the best of your circumstances.

I Just Wanna Live, Man

Someone recently asked me what I wanted to do with my life.

Answers immediately popped into my head, all of which sounded vaguely spiel-y. There was I want to build something great, of course, or I want to leave a legacy, or I want to get ahead in my career, or I want to live in a big, bright house by the water where the weather is always warm while working a job that is intellectually challenging, well-paying, and culturally fitting. But my voice seemed to have a mind of its own.

“I just wanna live, man,” I blurted out instead before I could stop myself.

Easter 2017

I was going to make a post rounding up all of the Easter-appropriate dresses I’ve showcased on the blog, but I’m pretty sure that I’d just end up with every dress on here.

I’m not religious, by the way — I just really love pastels and floral prints. My love for sweet, girly dresses is no joke; I have this distinct memory of me as an eight-year-old walking through a department store full of sundresses, insisting that my mom buy All Of Them. She didn’t, obviously, but I built up my collection nonetheless and showed up to school every day there on after in a candy-colored frock. (Hey, what’s changed?)

Forget about flowers, chocolate, and obligatory sentiment — to me, Valentine’s Day is all about aesthetic. Pink! White! Red! Hearts! Sign me up.

I’ve been scrolling through other bloggers’ V-Day looks ever since they started coming out a few weeks ago, and although I may be a little late to the party, I’m in love (pun intended) with how whimsical this dress looks. You know you’re doing something right when five-year-olds in public stare at you like you’re a real-life princess.

I wore this outfit to my school’s Valentine’s Day Center of the Universe Party (see the one I wore to the last COUP here). The theme was “Realms of the Human Unconsciousness”, which meant blacklight dance floors and trippy murals everywhere. If possible, I had an even better time than I did at the last one, and ended up breaking in those seven-inch heels seen above by dancing in them all night. I may have been a little sore the next day, but pain is beauty. Worth. So worth.

If you’re celebrating V-Day with a special someone, I hope you get some have a great time! I’ll be spending some quality time with my Intro to Artificial Intelligence textbook all night long. 😉

I am loving the hell out of this Stepford Wives-esque vintage Lilly Pulitzer dress. The 2004 movie remake of that story remains one of my favorites to this day for both its sardonic humor and the colorful, ultra-feminine sundresses worn by the cast.

It tells the story of Joanna, a high-powered career woman who moves to Stepford, Connecticut with her family after suffering a mental breakdown. Stepford is creepily old-fashioned in a white-picket-fence, stifling-gender-role kind of way (think 1950s cultural norms), with the men all going to a mysterious clubhouse during the day while their wives cook, clean, and generally wait on them hand and foot. Ew.  (more…)
